Hurstbourne Country Club Wedding

Real Weddings

Blair and Sean’s Hurstbourne Country Club wedding was on a gorgeous September day. The bride and groom wanted to transport their guests from Louisville, Kentucky to an elegant, Tuscan countryside wedding to pay homage to familial history.

To create the Tuscan countryside feel, Blair and Sean used the Hurstbourne Country Club’s beautiful outdoor ceremony location made up of open-air stone arches with established trees, lush greenery, and manicured lawns that resembled rolling hills. The stone arches were decorated in simple olive branches and ripe berry accentuated with fluffy white flowers. A mix of mahogany church pews and chairs were placed for guests.

The weather was perfect, sunny and clear, but not too hot. The ceremony was in the late afternoon. Friends and family filled the pews. A string quartet started to play as the ceremony began and the wedding party began to make their way down the aisle. Blair was then escorted down the aisle by her father. The sun gleamed so perfectly on her. The ceremony was emotional and full of love and light.

As the sun faded, the cocktail hour began in the garden of the Hurstbourne Country Club. Artist Kayla Weber Nord painted the scene as guests relaxed, listening to the string quartet play popular music while nibbling on antipasti and sipping champagne from an installation the bride’s father built for the occasion. To keep in the Italian tradition, the bride and groom selected celebratory cigars for the guests to select from the cigar bar.

As the cocktail hour came to an end, guests were escorted into a reception room inside the Hurstbourne Country Club. The reception room was transformed to bring the outdoors in with tall, tree-like centerpieces and vintage gold vases filled with artichokes, ripe purple berries, greenery, and white flowers. Tall mauve candlesticks with gold candlestick holders and tea lights were also utilized to add a romantic and elegant feel to the space. Small hints of Italy were spread throughout the reception space with wine cork place card holders and olive branch embellishments.

Guests dined on traditional Italian fare of Caprese salad, chicken marsala, Italian-style filet, and truffle mashed potatoes all prepared and serviced by the Hurstbourne Country Club. The bride’s aunt baked an assortment of traditional Italian cookies for a dessert bar. Blair and Sean opted for a two-tiered white naked-styled wedding cake with hints of white plush flowers, greenery, and berries.
