Jackie and Charlie’s holiday wedding took place on New Years Eve at The Campbell House in Lexington, Kentucky.
One thing that I recommend for holiday weddings, especially weddings on New Years Eve is to choose a venue that also provides accommodations for you and your guests. Since holiday weddings on New Years Eve will go past midnight it’s always a safe and practical idea to give your guests the option to stay right where the party is. Jackie and Charlie chose to do just that for their holiday wedding.
Wedding events took place at The Campbell House beginning at 7am when hair and makeup began for the bridal party. Around noon, Charlie arrived and began to get ready in his room with his groomsmen.
The bride and groom chose to do first look photos before their ceremony outside of the Campbell House.
They then traveled with their wedding party to Gratz Park. Even though it was winter Gratz Park provided a beautiful and festive background for photos. Black rod iron gates and arches with red holiday bows and garland was the perfect touch for this holiday wedding.
I highly recommend taking photos during the day or even at night at a park with timeless holiday decor. It’s a great way to get festive backgrounds for photos without having to create them on your own.
The hotel you stay at will definitely have holiday decor up as well and would be a great location to snap a few festive photos as well.
For a holiday wedding reception it can be tricky to provide that holiday wedding design and feeling without doing too much. For Jackie and Charlie’s holiday wedding reception we added hints of “holiday” to the cocktails and desserts with an overall classic black and white look.
The reception room had black walls and ceilings so we kept that theme with the tables. We went with black tablecloths with classic white and green floral centerpieces.
We used gold chairs and a ton of tea lights throughout the room as well to create a classic New Years Eve feel.
Since this holiday wedding went past midnight Jackie and Charlie opted for a late night snack for guests. I definitely recommend doing this for New Years Eve weddings that are going later than typical.
Jackie and Charlie provided glow sticks and noisemakers for guests. The band did a countdown to the New Year while everyone cheered with joy and kissed their loved one at midnight.
Holiday weddings are a special time to get married. Cities are lit up with lights, most people get time off from work and are ready to celebrate with friends and family.
Jackie and Charlie had a wonderful holiday wedding and a big part of that had to do with the incredible vendors below. Thank you all who played a part in this wedding!
